Italy - Moving Day 2025-04-19

Sadly the time has come for Kat and Cleo to return to the states, forever changed by Italy and longing to return before they've even left. At 9:30AM, we put them in a cab, with our love, and sent them to the airport to begin their journey. We finished cleaning up the condo - very little, really just take our trash and put linens on the floor - and took our own cab to drop off our luggage for the day as our 'forever' condo would not be ready until 3pm.

We took the opportunity to stroll around our 'new' neighborhood which we specifically selected for it's residential, Italians live here, non-touristy area. We were not disappointed. Quiet street opposite Cascine Park and the new Opera House. Tons of small eateries of all kinds, three groceries and numerous shops for everything including the kitchen sink. After brekkie, we parked ourselves at a pocket park, found a bench that was shaded and had sun - SUN! - and proceeded to read and relax for a few hours.

We met our new host and toured our new home. FABULOUS. Complete with screens - I'm allergic to mosquitos so I've been suffering for a week now with multiple bites up and down my arms and on my face/head. Screens are a rarity here, so I'm super grateful to be able to open the balcony door and the bedroom window safe from those flying thugs. It's about 600sf and the perfect size for us. We dropped our luggage, got out the bags Judi gave us for Christmas and went to the Lidl.  I love a good grocery store.

Found everything we needed, returned to the condo, made panini and crashed out.
