We were so looking forward to traveling with our children. Ours are 41; Cleo had never been overseas and Kat had been to Spain/Portugal for school. We flew Lufthansa Denver to Munich then Munich to Florence. We made it through customs and to our next flight without much fuss. Upon landing in Florence, we were informed that our bags decided to take an extra day in Munich. We could have them delivered but it would take 48-72 hours OR we could come back the next morning. JR and I offered to get up early, take public transport to the airport and a cab back to the hotel - two rolling and two Rick Steve's backpack were a lot to maneuver on public transport AND it was raining.
It's always fun to watch someone's first time overseas/Italy and join in their wonder and amazement of the newness of it all. Cleo did not disappoint. As always, he was so enthusiastic and full of wonder and it was contagious. Kat was suffering some ill affects of the very warm flights so she was excited, but muted in her responses, but as always, game for anything.
After our stroll up the path to Piazzale Michelangelo, we hit a restaurant and we refreshed with food and drink. We walked back along the Arno - sans rain - and turned in for the night. We made it to about 8:00pm, so it was a respectable time to 'give up' to the jet lag.
