Kit and JR climbed the Duomo while Jeri and I went to Opera del Duomo Museo. The statue below is 'Mary in Penitence' by Donatello. This statue evokes such sorrow, resignation and grief. This is my second time viewing it and it's still stunning.
After we met up, we rented a car and drove to Genoa; appx 4 hours. Genoa is a port city and certainly interesting, but unfortunately, we didn't get a lot of time to wander. We wanted to stop in Lucca, but timing didn't permit it. We enjoyed lunch here and then returned to Florence. The views driving there were also gorgeous.
