I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO GO HERE SINCE I WAS 18! JR kindly agreed to travel to Bologna so I could check out the car of my dreams - Lamborghini Countach 5000 - in person and tour the factory. I mean, who doesn't love a factory tour? So off to the train station we went.
Side note - I really miss the availability of stable, reliable and fast public transport. Yes, we have a decent bus availability in Denver and yes, we have a light rail system, but it isn't as easy to access them to take you where you want to go. Italy, and Europe in general, is just really good at providing access numerous locations you would want to visit, not just commute.
If you are not a car person, feel free to skip this post and go to Lamborghini Day Part II - Bologna.
A little history:
Factory tour - No phones, no intelligent technology of any kind so no pics, but I can tell you the factory is amazing. People get to work in teams for specific 'areas' of the car but they do learn every single station. I was heartened to see a fair amount of women at the stations and also as supervisors. They are currently manufacturing hybrids and next year they will start manufacturing ALL ELECTRIC only. Mamma Mia that was so cool. Sadly, they don't sell any merch to keep it special to those that can afford to buy a car.
We also paid for the ability to drive a Lamborghini. Sadly only virtually. It was a blast. JR beat me on the course by about 11 seconds.
This is the car I have lusted for my whole life - Lamborghini Countach 5000. This is a 2021 anniversary edition for the 50th Anniversary of Lamborghini:
Here's some pretty pictures:
They also had some really fantastic pictures from a photographic competition:
And of course, street art:
It was a great time and really appreciate JR wanting to add it to our trip to Bologna. <3 Speaking of, off to Bologna!
