As you can see, everything not only fit, but we could have fit more; good to know. While pumping gas at aroun 8pm last night, We saw the word "fueling" and of course, had to play with it and came up with the following songs:
(to the tune of 'feelings') Fuelings, midgrade unleaded, Fuelings, trying to forget my fuelings above...
(to the tune of "I can't fight this feeling anymore") I can't fight these fuelings anymore, I've forgotten what I've started fueling for, it's time we turn this car into the shore and throw away the or's forever....
Started driving to Chicago at 2pm on Thursday under clear skies. What can you say about an afternoon drive through eastern Colorado and Nebraska that hasn't already been said - "Are we there, yet? Are we there, yet? Are we there, yet?" Then the sun goes down, and somehow you don't feel like you are missing all of those scenic opportunities. I'm probably not being fair to our neighbors to the East, but beyond the Great Platte River Road Archway, nothing much jumps out at you. Nobody fell asleep at the wheel, drifted off the road, made contact with animals small or large, or otherwise created a hazard.
Driving into Chicago - now that is a different story. I thought we were re-living last week's NASCAR finish - speed limits were merely a suggestion. There certainly seemed to be an inordinately large number of commuters from the hinterlands. Those weren't "carbon footprints" we were driving over, they were skid marks. The tollway continues to be a work in progress - yikes. The downtown Chicago skyline, backlit by the rising sun (cue angels) - very pretty. All in all, we arrived safely.
And what could be a better finale than breakfast at Tiffany's. No really, we had breakfast at Tiffany's, a small diner connected to the Comfort Inn on Northwest Highway. As expected, Audrey Hepburn was a no-show.

So glad the first leg of your trip went well! And I'm not surprised you had plenty of space. I used to get a whole weekend's worth of stuff in the trunk of my del Sol.
Say hi to Tom and Mary for me!
My GAWD you're funny! LOVED reading about your adventures/lack of incident and general commentary! And I've NEVER seen a more organized back end of a car! (Like I'd expect anything different from you? :) Keep writing and posting photos!
Ok - your 'fuelings' game is a sure sign that you were going off your rocker (Eastern CO and Nebraska did that to Brian and I as well).
Scott looks quite handsome in his suit!! And it's so nice to see the Ronczy family photo!!
